In terms of prices, the market remains stubbornly tight with extremely thin coffee release from farmers, posing challenges for short covering players.
Farmgate prices in the upcountry provinces have reached a record of 130,000 Dong/kg during the last weeks. Consequently, this sky-rocketing surge has pushed the FOB diffs above the record of 1,200 USD/MT vs Jul24. However, farmers have been selling in a very disciplined manner, pushing the buyers to accept record high prices at the moment.
Trading activities are quiet both upcountry regions and HCMC FOB markets. Sellers released small volume and was well-captured by the demand from local shippers and traders.
The Central Highlands have been experiencing intense heat and low rainfall during the last few weeks, posing a drought risk that could lead to decreased coffee production next crop of 24/25. The rainfall is really minimal compared to the same period last year. We will continue to monitor this and will update the situation in the next reports.
